The Moonlight or Die founder charter

Our sister company, Moonlight or Die, has pledged $1,000,000 to put free inspection software in the hands of 1,000 new home inspectors. This page is how that pledge becomes real. Every code we send draws from that charter.

Why we're doing this

We've started enough businesses to know what the first year actually looks like. The licensing exam is the easy part. What comes next — buying tools, learning software, building a brand, finding your first paying customers — is where most new inspectors burn out before they ever hit their stride.

Software shouldn't be one of the things you have to figure out. So we're taking it off your list for a year.

"Our whole reason for existing is to make starting a business easier than it's ever been. The charter is what that looks like in practice."

How it works

Four steps. Most people are inspecting their first house within a week of signing up.

1

Upload your certificate

Drop in your course completion form from any approved home inspection school. PDF or photo is fine.

2

We verify and send your code

Our system checks the certificate and emails you a 12 months Pro Inspector access code, usually within minutes.

3

Set up your account

Add your business name, logo, license number, and inspection areas. Pick a report template you like.

4

Run your first inspection

Use the mobile app on-site, generate the report, and send it to your client. No prior software experience needed.

What's included in your free year

The full product. Not a stripped-down trial. The same software paying inspectors use every day.

📋

Mobile inspection app

Run the whole inspection from your phone or tablet. Works offline. Photos, voice notes, and findings sync the second you're back on Wi-Fi.

📄

Branded PDF reports

Professional reports in your company's branding. Send to the buyer's agent in one click. Looks like you've been doing this for ten years.

🗓️

Online scheduling

A booking page you can share with agents. Clients pick a time, you get a confirmed appointment. No more phone tag.

💳

Payments built in

Collect payment before or after the inspection. Card, ACH, or invoice. Money goes straight to your bank.

🤝

Agent relationship tools

Track which agents send you business and follow up automatically. The single biggest lever for growing your book.

About the charter

Built alongside Moonlight or Die

HomeInspections.com and Moonlight or Die are sister companies, both owned by Public Products, Inc. Moonlight or Die exists for one reason: to make starting a business easier than it's ever been. Their podcast walks new founders through the realities of building a service business from scratch — and they recently dedicated a full episode to starting a home inspection business specifically.

The $1M charter is how Moonlight or Die puts that mission into action for inspectors. We run the software side. They fund the giveaway. You get the year.

Common questions

If we missed something, reach out through the contact form on HomeInspections.com and we'll get back to you the same day.

Is this really free? What's the catch?
It's really free. No credit card required, no auto-renewal, no hidden tier we hold features back from. The cost is covered by Moonlight or Die's $1M founder charter. We make money when inspectors grow and stay with us long term — if we help you build a business in year one, we're betting you'll want to keep using us in year two.
What counts as a "recent" course completion form?
Anything dated within the last 12 months from an approved home inspection training program. If you completed your course longer ago and haven't been operating yet, send us a message — we look at these case by case.
Do I have to already be licensed in my state?
No. The course completion is what we're verifying. Some states require additional licensing steps after the course, and we want you to be able to start practicing reports and getting comfortable with the software before your first paid job.
What happens after 12 months?
You'll get an email about a month before your year is up with options to continue. If you want to stay, our standard plan is $79/month. If you don't, your account stays read-only so you can still access old reports. We'll never auto-charge you.
How many of the 1,000 spots are left?
We recommend claiming yours as soon as your course is complete.
Can I use my own report template?
No, We designed HomeInspections.com to be universally accepted by Customers and make sure that we incorporate feedback to give them the best report.
Does this work for ancillary services like radon or wind mit?
Yes, we support Wind Mitigation and four-point.  New reports launch quarterly.
What if I'm switching from another software?
No worries, using our software can be learned after doing 1 home for practice.
